Inspired by Marla's love of music and all things that bring the heat, she's been working on the recipe for Scarlet Fire® in small batches for several years. Until recently it was only available to friends and family. The early-stage recipe made its first public appearance in 2011 - during a campsite taco dinner with friends in Yosemite National Park.

It wasn’t until 2018 that she secured the trademark and artist Jim Pollock began working on the label art. She signed up to be a vendor at a pop-up market and bottled a few gallons of sauce at the culinary school where she was teaching. Sh sold out of hot sauce that weekend and began the arduous process of searching for a co-packing facility.

In June of 2019, she ran a successful Kickstarter campaign, raising funds to move forward with the company. 8 months and several co-packers later, she produced the first small-scale commercial batch of Scarlet Fire.
