This heat exchanger is a great option as either a HERMS coil or immersion wort chiller. The convoluted copper tubing is twisted to make a pattern that breaks up the laminar flow inside the tubing, exposing more water or wort to the walls of the copper tubing and encouraging the transfer of heat. The twisted pattern makes this type of tubing very efficient material for heat exchangers. That's why this very coil is used in the HERMS setup featured on the BrewBuilt BrewSculpture™ and we highly recommend it to anyone making their own heat exchange recirculating mash system.

The inlet and outlet feature 1/2" FPT, which means rigging this unit up with quick disconnects or pipe thread to garden hose fittings is super easy.
